Good Samaritan Hospice is looking a licensed massage therapist to provide comforting, gentle hand massages to hospice patients. With or without soothing, comforting aroma oils, the hospice patient will have some aches and stress relieved.

Many hospice patients love listening to soothing live music. If you play an instrument, consider becoming a music volunteer. As a music volunteer, you’ll bring your instrument with you when you’re visiting patients. You can play some of your favorite songs for the patient, and you can also take some requests from the patient. Patients will love getting to relax and listen to their own private concert.

Do you want to literally deliver some joy in the lives of hospice patients and their families? Join the Good Samaritan Society Hospice to volunteer your time picking up (from the Hospice office or a participating store) and delivering (to patient’s homes) small gifts and snacks. Deliver the smiles! Just a once-a-month driving shift helps the Good Samaritan Society deliver some cheer to homebound or nursing home patients. For some of our clients, our drivers may be the only friendly face they'll see all day, so all of our volunteers make a huge impact on the lives of the people they visit. We deliver to the Albuquerque area. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Kathlyn Williams at Kathlyn.williams@good-sam.com. Drivers must be at least 18 years old, and have a current driver's license and valid auto insurance. You will have training, be drug screened and fingerprinted. Please note: we are not able to fulfill court-mandated restitution obligations. We cannot pay for gas/mileage.

This volunteer supports and assists the patients and families in a variety of home settings in Santa Fe, NM. Patient care volunteers spend their time with hospice patients. Volunteers travel to the place where the patient currently lives. This could be the patient’s home, a nursing home, or a long-term care facility. Volunteers do not provide any medical or hands-on care. They simply spend time with the patient, talking with them and keeping them company. Volunteer also often play the patient’s favorite games with them, like cards or chess. Volunteers may also talk with patients about current events, watch a television show or movie, if that’s something that the patient is interested in. In home volunteers provide a vital service for the hospice patients. They’re able to give patients someone who will listen to their stories and talk with them. This type of volunteering is perfect for compassionate, empathetic people who want to help patients who are at the end of their life. You do not need previous hospice training. Training for this position will be held in Albuquerque NM, but volunteer would be assigned to visit patients in Santa Fe, NM.
