Are you an art student, professional artist, or an individual who is highly skilled in art and wanting to make a positive difference in someone's life? Become one of ECHO's Art Therapy volunteers! Hospice patients are nearing the end of their lives and often due to their medical conditions have no creative expression available to them. Help provide them with a creative outlet for expressing themselves. The role of the art therapy volunteer is a special one where he/she will visit a patient's home to get to know them and will create a special work of art in-person for the patient and/or their family. This art piece will be something unique and personal for the patient and their families to treasure forever. The art piece could be whatever the patient wants...perhaps a sketch of their favorite animal, a drawing of a dream they once had, a watercolor of their favorite place, or an ink drawing of a special memory. Bring comfort and joy to the life of a hospice patient by sharing your artistic gift! General hospice orientation will be provided prior to patient contact. Responsibilities: * Visit patients at their homes to create custom works of art for them in-person Qualifications: * Be skilled in some form of art (drawing, painting, sketching, etc.) * Reliable * Personable * Comfortable with end of life journeys * Compassionate * 18 years or older * Valid driver's license and auto insurance * Must be able to complete minimum of 25 hours of volunteering within first 90 days * Must be able to pass background check, drug test, and TB test * Must be willing to complete Volunteer Orientation training

Leave a legacy of kindness in your life and make a positive difference in someone's final stages of life by becoming a Patient Care Volunteer for hospice patients. Hospice provides support to patients and their families during their final phase of life. Hospice patients are first and foremost people, and we are looking for volunteers who have a heart to show up for someone during a difficult period in their life. This work is deeply important and valued as a part of the hospice team. Learn more about those around you who might come from different walks of life and heighten your own sense of spiritual and emotional values while serving in this role. Patient Care Volunteers assist as friends and companions to patients who have six months or less to live. They provide the patient and/or family with important respite care, emotional support, and companionship. Visits are with patients in their own residences, at assisted living facilities, or nursing facilities. All volunteers will go through a comprehensive training and are provided with ongoing, guided support from the Volunteer Coordinator. Responsibilities: Provide companionship through visiting, watching TV, scrap-booking, talking, active listening, bedside sitting, letter writing, reading, etc. Take interest in the patient by engaging with him/her in sharing hobbies, gardening, table games, cards, crafts, listening to music, watching movies, discussing sports, travel, life stories Provide patient's caregiver and/or family with respite care in 2-4 hour blocks of time so that they can have a little break Maintain confidentiality regarding information related to patient and family Qualifications: Compassionate, communicative, reliable, punctual, excellent listener Must be 18 years or older Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance Must be able to pass background check and drug test Must be able to complete minimum of 25 hours of volunteering within first 90 days Bilingual is a plus IMPORTANT: *Volunteers will complete an orientation session prior to any patient contact. *Volunteers will be visiting patients in their own residences, which may be at their house, an assisted living facilities, or nursing facilities. *Volunteers do not help patient with any type of medical care, medical assistance, and/or personal hygiene care. *Volunteers cannot fulfill clinical hours through this opportunity. *This opportunity is not an internship or job shadowing program. We can sign off on school volunteering hours, but not internship hours.

ECHO Hospice is searching for veteran volunteers to assist in our We Honor Veterans program. This opportunity is open for active duty, enlisted, reserve, or retired members of the armed forces. As a volunteer you will be matched up with a veteran patient to meet the needs specific to our armed forces population as only a veteran can. As a Veteran Volunteer you will be making a positive difference in someone's life. Your main goal is providing the patient and/or family with emotional support and companionship. Patient Care Volunteers go out to the patient's home or to their assisted living facility. Volunteer activities may include watching TV, reading, listening to music, crafts, scrap-booking, assisting with letter writing, providing social stimulation, and most of all becoming a new friend. Please note that volunteers provide no medical care, medical assistance, or personal hygiene care. Please be able to complete a minimum of 25 hours of volunteering within first 90 days. All volunteers will compete a hospice based orientation program prior to patient contact, and our veteran volunteers will receive special training geared towards the needs of our veteran population through the We Honor Veteran initiative.

Administrative volunteers play an important role in assisting hospice staff with office duties, include copying, filing, faxing, putting together patient materials, and reception. Hospice is a medical service provided to patients with a life expectancy of six months or less. If you’re task-oriented, reliable, and like working in a friendly office environment then volunteering at Sanctuary Hospice’s office may be a great fit for you! As an administrative volunteer, your role is essential in maintaining the organizational flow, as you put together patient forms, file paperwork, and conduct other administrative work. As a Music Therapy Volunteer, you'll be making a lasting and positive difference in someone's life.
