Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Girl Scouts of Citrus is the leading organization for girls in Central Florida. Our focus is the wholesome development of girls. We see girls as emerging leaders in every field, as visionaries for local and global change, and capable of incredible influence. On March, 12, 1912, Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low brought 18 girls from Savannah out of isolated home environments and into the open air. Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, organized community service, went on camping trips, and studied first aid.
More than 40 years later, Girl Scouts of Citrus Council was incorporated into what is now an international Girl Scout movement with more than 3.2 million girls and adults and over 59 million alumnae. Locally, 15,000 girls and 7,000 adult volunteers come together from six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia.
