Description

Since March 2019 the Carlton Locksley Bennett Foundation Inc., has served many of Brooklyn's adolescents impacted by gun violence or who resides in areas where violent crimes are high. Leadership and mentoring programs are provided. The foundation vision is to established a Multi-purpose center and as its mission to continue Locksley's legacy. We aim to do this by empowering individual students to achieve educational success; by offering emotional support and inspiration that will enable our students to lead healthy and productive lives. Through fundraising, the foundation provides educational scholarships for tuition, books, clothing/toiletries, school supplies, graduation/college expense and other needs, tutoring; leadership training; bereavement counseling; therapeutic and spiritual guidance. Our 2011 initiative "Taking Back The Children Campaign" through the PACT Program "Partnership Affecting Change in Teens" a mentoring program was added. CLBF is targeting Junior and High School students who are at risk of dropping out or having challenging situations preventing them from fully engaging in school. The Foundation believes that a mentor is a person who provides support, counseling, friendship and nurturing by offering not only academic and career guidance, but also effective leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
