Mission Statement

The Arkansas Local Food Network seeks to serve our local community fresh, local food grown or made by our neighbors. The sustainability of our community, whether it be by purchasing products from local farmers, or by providing fresh, local food to the nearest food pantry, is of utmost importance to us. Good food and making connections with good people are just a by-products.

Description

As a non-profit organization focusing on farm viability and access to fresh food, we function on a shoestring budget. The totality of our operations relies on memberships, 16% of sales, and donations. Nominal fees help us break even - primary expenses include rent, one part-time Market Manager who coordinates the online market and purchasing for Green Groceries, annual insurance fees, and other reasonable expenses (office supplies, payroll taxes, etc.)

The ALFN online farmer's market has enhanced the viability of Arkansas farms and small businesses by enabling direct marketing through an online platform since 2007. We also partner with Green Groceries, a fresh, local food pantry, to provide low-income families with access to fresh foods. Unlike most community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs, our market gives you the ability to get exactly what you want from farmers and vendors. All of the products listed on our market are locally grown or locally produced. All of our farmers produce is grown right here in Arkansas, with the exception of Ratchford Farms, who has land in both Arkansas and Missouri. Our locally made products are made from local as well as non-local ingredients.
