The Seattle Angel's Love Box program provides fostering families (caregivers, children in foster care, and biological/adopted children) with community and holistic support. This wrap-around support enables caregivers to continue to do the important and meaningful work of being foster parents. As a Love Box group, you will be matched with a local foster family based on location, compatibility, and scope of needs. When our families are matched with committed volunteers who show up monthly, parents feel supported and children gain a greater sense of normalcy, relational permanency, and self confidence. Volunteers seek to build relationships with their family by spending quality time with the whole family: playing games, sharing a meal, and being intentional. They can also create and deliver personal care packages based on current practical needs. We tell our volunteers to think of themselves as the fun "auntie" and "uncle" who visits once a month to bring love, encouragement, and hope. This program requires a one year commitment, but the connections and impact last a lifetime.

ABOUT SEATTLE ANGELS: Seattle Angels is a foster care non-profit that was created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. We are a community of people that walk alongside children experiencing foster care and their caretakers. We do this by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. Our solution to the foster care crisis is the Love Box and Dare to Dream Program(s). Our program(s) utilizes a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between youth, foster families, and bio-families. Our volunteers are everyday people that sponsor a local foster family with monthly care packages to meet practical needs, while spending quality time with the whole family to build a positive community. They are changing the way kids and parents experience the foster care system. At Seattle Angels we believe in the power of love, the value of friendship, and the importance of positive role models in the lives of children and youth involved in foster care. DARE TO DREAM: Our Dare to Dream program is an opportunity to individually serve a youth in foster care, ages ranging from 11-22. Our mentors are advocates, coaches, role models, valued friends, and available resources. The heart of the Dare to Dream program is to walk alongside these youth as they navigate through life's challenges. They need the wisdom, advice, encouragement, and community that you can provide. Mentors meet practical and emotional needs as well as provide guidance through developmental milestones. The hope is for youth to be engaged, feel supported and equipped to navigate life. As a mentor you commit to meeting with your mentee every other week, set goals, and help them achieve their dreams. These relationships will hopefully last a lifetime, but the program is a year commitment. Meetup might look like: Grabbing coffee to help them create a resume and follow up the next meet up to ask where they applied. From there you might help them pick out an interview outfit and go over practice questions. Meetups can happen anywhere but usually it is at the youth's home/shelter or a public location. We also encourage our mentors to plan fun outings such as treating the youth to dinner at a local restaurant, movie theater, etc. You will be amazed at how the simple act of telling them, "I believe in you," "You are special," and "You are going to do great things," could change their path completely.
