Mission Statement

What We Do: Originally formed in 1965, the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is a statewide non-profit organization of amateurs and professionals with a common interest in California's native plants. The Society seeks to increase understanding of California's native flora and to preserve this rich resource for future generations. Membership is open to everyone. Who We Are: THE BEES, BIRDS AND BUTTERFLIES NEED YOUR HELP! You can help improve the habitat for these creatures. The Napa Chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) has been maintaining the Martha Walker California Native Habitat Garden (MWG), located in Skyline Wilderness Park in the city of Napa, for over 50 years. The purpose of this 3 acre botanical garden is to familiarize citizens of Napa County, and the world, with California native plants and to share their value in creating successful wildlife habitat and drought tolerant landscaping. The MWG is an ongoing work-in-progress, with new areas identified for improvement and dedication to specific native plant demonstration communities. CNPS also sponsors local lectures, workshops, school educational programs and holds twice yearly native plant sales.
