Mission Statement

The mission of the Concord Historical Society is to identify, preserve and display artifacts from 1836 to the present of significant historical value related to Concord and the surrounding area. Our goal is to restore the former Masonic Temple Hall to its former status as the communities cultural center, to include the Francisco Galindo Home Museum and the Concord History Museum in the former Masonic Hall. The Hall is available for community cultural events , event rental, and family gatherings and weddings. The Museum also provides an historical lecture series and early grade level children's local history lessons and camps. We also publish a digital quarterly, the Historian, with local history articles .

Description

We have restored the 1856 Francisco Galindo Home, a Registered Historical Place, and a 1928 historical building, creating a Heritage Campus on 2 1/2 acres and Garden. The project has taken 11 years and is a multi -million dollar undertaking. The 1928 building is a former Masonic Lodge Hall in which we plan to install our collection of thousands of artifacts, papers and photos as the Concord History Museum. The Museum will be ready for occupancy and collection display in a few months. We are looking to find a qualified volunteer to work with our Board and Resource Director to guide the formation and administration of the Museum.
