PHS Hospice Care recognizes the opportunity to participate in the lives of our patients as a valuable and esteemed opportunity. The provision of services by volunteers significantly enhances the quality of life for our patients. The provision of love, respect, and care by hospice volunteers plays a crucial role in promoting the general well-being of patients and their families in difficult circumstances. Volunteer services facilitate the ability of families to maintain their loved ones in their own homes, in the presence of their loved ones and their preferred activities. Volunteers can provide assistance with errands, helping a tired family in managing their numerous obstacles and giving them the opportunity to spend quality time with their loved ones. The act of physically holding a patient's hand has the potential to reduce their anxiety and provide comfort. Engaging in volunteer work may not require advanced medical knowledge or significant dedication. Engaging in volunteer work can involve activities such as reading to or dedicating a few hours per week to a patient. Acts of kindness that significantly improve the well-being of our patients and their loved ones.

Our Purpose and Mission The purpose and mission of PHS Hospice Care is to provide compassionate care to the terminally ill patient utilizing a coordinated interdisciplinary team approach, allowing death to occur naturally in a home like setting with peace and dignity.

Description

PHS Hospice Care is a life-affirming program that promotes the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of patients with life-limiting illnesses, along with that of the caregivers and family members of the patients. We are an interdisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers offering supportive services which maximize the patient’s comfort, quality of life and autonomy. PHS Hospice Care is available for assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
