Inspired confidence and increased competence of aspiring home gardeners through our social media community that builds awareness, educates and encourages sustainable gardening and healthy lifestyle choices.

Description

Black Girls With Green Thumbs is growing a community who garden in their home and communities to heal, nourish, and learn.
In the last 2 years, Black Girls With Green Thumbs has grown!

With support from multiple funders, we have been able to really dig in and expand our programs to address issues of food access and food sovereignty by engaging with children, individuals, and families from urban communities, around gardening and nutrition in various ways, like:

  • creating 4 school gardens in Philadelphia and 1 library garden in Darby, PA
  • leading weekly garden workshops for 51 people
  • hosting workshops for mothers at 3 Delaware County homeless shelters
  • jumpstarting 12 home gardens by selling young seedlings
  • offer personalized home garden consultations
