Mission Statement
YEP's purpose is to support the growth, development and education of at-risk youth and the homeless population impacted by poverty, the foster care, criminal justice systems, school underachievement, and lack of work experience in the West Palm Beach and surrounding areas. Many times, this neglected group needs a second chance at redefining their identity as with the stigma comes a negative expectation and prediction. YEP is a Foundation designed to transform mindsets, self-image and identity through accountability measures and impactful programs including life, job and technical skills. These substantive development and empowerment programs have the goal of producing leaders in the community.
Description
A comprehensive background check will take place including fingerprint-based criminal, child abuse registry and sexual offender registry checks along with personal references. Our mentors must be coachable with the ability to receive feedback to uplift, encourage and empower the subjective mentee. In addition, this must not be a checklist activity, rather, the mentor must understand the time commitment involved to change a mindset and have a compassionate attitude toward children and youth.
