Mission Statement

America SCORES New York works with over 1,000 students in NYC across three boroughs to provide soccer, literacy and service-learning programming during the after-school and summer hours. We work with teams of students from K through 12th grades, led primarily by teachers from our public school partners, supported by other coach-mentors and volunteers.

Description

We would look for mentors who are interested in being an assistant coach for a team of girls or boys on a consistent basis. We prefer not to place occasional volunteers with our soccer-poetry teams. The mentor must have experience teaching, coaching or working with youth in another context. You would be paired with a head coach and support them however needed, on the soccer field or in the poetry & service learning classroom.

Our high school program is new and an emerging area of need for us to look for additional 1-on-1 mentor support for students as they explore career and post-secondary educational opportunities.
