Mission Statement
Our mission is to serve as a bridge linking together the people and resources for youth to make the connections needed to transition successfully into adulthood. Mentors help empower youth in the community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. By becoming part of the social network of adults and community members who care about the youth, the mentor can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals.
Description
Mentors:
-take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship
-serve as a positive role model and friend
-build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together
-strive for mutual respect
-build mentee self esteem and motivation
-help set goals and work toward accomplishing them
One year commitment, minimum of 8 hours per month one-to-one with mentee, communicate with the mentee on a weekly basis, must be at least 21 years old.
**Experience working with youth in an official or volunteer capacity and at least a bachelors degree in related field (psychology, human services, etc.) preferred!
