Mission Statement
As a city-centric backbone organization, Trellis recruits, trains, and mobilize church and community volunteers to mentor in 3 ways:
1) Provide academic and literacy mentors to work one-on-one in classrooms
2) Support students with self-esteem and healthy emotional development with life coaching
3) Assist at-risk and/or career-bound youth with job training and mentorship
Description
Mentors need to be committed to a one-year minimum time connecting with their mentee. Mentors will go through training before mentorship begins. A typical mentor will have a demonstrated ability to connect compassionately and age-appropriately with their mentee so both parties feel safe and respected. Mentors can expect to meet on local school campuses during the school day, school lunch breaks, or after school.
