Mission Statement

The Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside has received National Mentoring Program grants from BGCA and US Office of Justice Programs (OJP) to provide mentoring programs and services to our youth, with an emphasis upon those youth living in disadvantaged areas and youth whose parents are in the Military. As a mentor, you can work with a youth via the traditional One to One (one adult in a mentor/mentee relationship with one youth); or with a small group (one adult mentor forming a mentor/mentees relationship with a small group of young people.) We can work with you to determine which method is best for your skillset and availability.

We have several youth at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School who are in need of mentors so this is where you would be meeting your mentee(s) if you choose to do the program. The hours of mentoring will be dependent upon your availability; however, it is our hope that you could meet with your mentee(s) for lunch at MLK Middle School once a week. Mentoring relationships that last at least a year or more are proven to be most effective so that is our goal. We would be so grateful if you choose to be a mentor.

Description

We are looking for mentors of all backgrounds and ages with an emphasis on minority male mentors.
