The mission of Hello Neighbor is to improve the lives of refugees and immigrants by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new lives .

The vision of Hello Neighbor is that all refugees and immigrants feel welcome and gain confidence in their new lives in Pittsburgh.

Hello Neighbor matches refugee families from over 8 different countries with local Pittsburghers to provide mentorship, friendship, and guidance as they rebuild their lives. We provide training, hands-on support, and free access to some of Pittsburgh's most exciting destinations.

Description

The goal of a mentor is to be a friend to a refugee family. This will include one-on-one time with the family and activities like going to a museum, visiting a local library, and cooking side by side in each other's homes. Mentors will also help with practical and important integration activities. examples could include signing kids up for preschool or summer camp, help finding a new apartment, how to apply for a new job, and other life skills.
