Mission Statement

Project 18 Mentoring provides mentoring and support services to foster youth, ages 13 - 21 to promote positive behaviors, promote healthy relationships between foster care youth and adults, prevent juvenile delinquency and to guide youth as they transition from foster care to independent living upon reaching the age of 18 and beyond. The program, emphasizes the development of youth assets, employability, and independent living skills through the integration of well-trained volunteer mentors. This type of program allows for each match to be tailored to the unique and individual needs of the youth.

Description

Mentors must be at least 21 years of age and must complete an application, interview and background screening (including finger prints and motor vehicle screening). Applicants must attend an orientation and training session and must commit to at least 4 hours each month of face-to-face contact for at least 2 years.
