Mission Statement

We ignite girls' purpose and passion to succeed through positive mentoring relationships with women and enrichment programs that support girls' healthy development. We have transitioned our volunteer enrollment process to be virtual and are making matches virtually when possible. Community-Based Mentoring is our signature program. It is the nation's premier evidence-based, one-to-one mentoring model which matches girls (Little Sisters) between the ages of 7-15 with professionally trained and supported women mentors (Big Sisters). Matches meet weekly for the first three months to establish a strong friendship and can meet bi-weekly thereafter for the duration of their match relationship. The minimum commitment is 12 months. School-Based Mentoring School-Based Mentoring is designed specifically for girls in elementary schools (grades 2-5) throughout Boston and Cambridge. Big Sisters meet weekly with their Little Sister at the girl's school, generally during her lunch period.

Description

Big Sister mentors are diverse and come from all walks of life. The minimum age to become a Big Sister is 18 in the School-Based Program and 20 years of age in the Community-Based Program. If you're considering becoming a mentor, please give us a call. 'You don't have to be perfect. You have to be present."
