Mission Statement

The Mentor Connector serves to awaken youth to their value and help guide them to build goals, character, and skills to create a meaningful and productive life for themselves and their family. We accomplish this through our mentor matches, mentoring community, case management, and public outreach. Each of these pieces work in unison to bring about transformation for youth in Rutland County as they avoid high-risk behaviors and gain skills to achieve their goals.

* Each program youth, aged 5-21, is carefully matched with a screened and highly trained adult mentor in his or her region. These mentors offer support, guidance, and ultimately a sense of value to the youth.
* While involved with the program, each mentor match is part of the mentoring community within Rutland County to empower youth to develop a sense of belonging. This group provides regular training in skill development, exposure to employment opportunities, community service projects, and life enhancing activities.
* Our Mentor Coordinators routinely works with mentors, mentees, and their guardians to support the match process, help connect the mentee and his or her family with community supports, and facilitate clear communication between the mentor and the guardians.
* Our public outreach serves to awaken the community to the needs and value of youth within Rutland County. We also work to create a culture of mentoring within the business, education, community service, and public service sectors to empower young people to bring their gifts back into Rutland County as productive members of society.
