Mission Statement
Connecting Champions is a nonprofit that helps kids and young adults with cancer through friendships with inspirational role models. We build friendships for over 100 child cancer patients per year.
Children with cancer are often out of school for at least one year, away from friends, and dealing with very difficult social & developmental side effects. Our friendships are built to help kids achieve positive developmental outcomes by having a friendly role model at every stage of the cancer journey.
Our role models are athletes, dancers, police officers, teachers, nail stylists, grad students studying to work with kids -- and everyone in between!
Description
Connecting Champions matches kids who have cancer with inspirational role models in the community. We are looking for athletes, dancers, police officers, teachers, lawyers, authors, nail stylists, and everyone in between. Whatever our kids want to be when they grow up, we want to have a inspirational role model who does just that.
We also have a Little Champs program where we seek grad students or recent graduates who are studying (or have studied) to work with children. These Little Champs volunteers are hugely important to the child's friendship.
