Mission Statement

BBBS provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Community Based- Participants in the Community Based Mentoring Program meet with their mentors in mutually agreed upon locations such as local beaches, parks, etc. This is the signature program for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Mentors commit to one full year of volunteer service with program participants. Community pairs meet at least twice a month. Activities vary, but some examples are: going to the movies and sporting events, going to the park, tutoring, etc.

Site Based/Think Big Club- Think Big Clubs match elementary students with high school student or adult mentors who meet at specified Extended Day school locations, such as the Boys and Girls Club. Mentors meet their "Littles" and help with homework, do activities or work on projects together in a supervised setting. These matches are incredibly impactful on both the Little and the High School Big. Matches generally last at least one full school year. Bigs must be at least 14 years old and have transportation to and from the club meetings. Adults can meet afterschool or during the day. High School students can meet afterschool.

School to Work- High School students learn critical employability skills, financial literacy, life skills and explore pathways to post-secondary education. As part of their training, students get to practice their newly attained skills with leaders from the community who volunteer as guest speakers and as business mentors. Once the youth are prepared, they are ready to gain on the job experience in a paid internship at a business in the desired field.
