Mission Statement

Our Mission is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are involved in the Juvenile Courts. We promote and support community-based volunteers, certified by the Supreme Court, who provide quality advocacy to help assure each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home and the opportunity to thrive.

Description

Since 1992, CASA of Yuma County has recruited volunteers to support children in foster care. Ultimately we would like to have a CASA for every child in care. Volunteers visit their child as well as participate in Foster Care Review Board hearings, Child and Family Team Meetings, School / IEP Meetings and write court reports to inform the judge of the needs and services of the child and family.
Volunteers commit to 15 - 20 hours per month to their case after attending 30 hours of pre-certification training. Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of ongoing training each year.
