Mission Statement

To provide professional support, information, research, networking opportunities and a gold standard in the promotion of patient-centered methodologies and patient empowerment models to the international community of professionals working in the field of GTA/MUTA training.

Description

We are a non profit organization that promotes patient empowerment models of health care specific to sensitive exam procedures. Our members are program directors in medical schools, private businesses that work in the methodology and all of the individual instructors who are responsible for the training. They are unique individuals who go through an extensive training to learn how to use their bodies as teaching tools so medical learners understand safe clinical exam procedures, learn how to communicate with their patients and empower their patients into equal partnerships so that medicine becomes kinder and more patient centered. To that end, we have committees to support those programs working to sexual assault forensic nurses and those involved with health care specific to marginalized groups such LGBTQ+. We are a new simulation organization, just two years old, but we are doing great things. Promoting patient centered methodologies in other countries, developing standards of best practices in the field and conducting our second international conference. Additionally, we are developing protocol around use of language and communication skills and protocols for safe involvement of these instructors in sexual assault forensic evidence training. We are looking to expand internationally to provide support for the few programs that exist outside of the United States and Canada and expand here in the United States to support more inclusive and patient centered care in rural areas and to marginalized communities.
