Neighbors Together

Description

Neighbors Together is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit providing food, clothing, medical care, sheltering, job training, financial assistance, legal assistance and other vital services to our neighbors in the tri-county area.

Neighbors Together first began in 1983 as a humble soup kitchen and clothes closet formed by several Lutheran and Methodist churches in the Tri-county area. Over the years we added clothing distribution, home-bound meal delivery, and food pantry. We offer a twice-weekly grocery distribution and clothing boutique, where our neighbors can receive fresh produce, non-perishable goods, diapers, toiletries, feminine hygiene, clothing and more! Our dining room has served more than 7.5 million meals to date.

However, we realize that solving the problem of poverty goes much deeper than simply providing basic needs. Neighbors Together addresses the cyclical causes of poverty and abuse as neighbors come to our center for basic needs, but they can take advantage of complete life-changing programs geared to move those in crisis to self-sustainability. When neighbors arrive on our campus, we assess their situations and show them what programs and services we provide. Ongoing assistance requires accountability and completion of on-site financial classes.
