* Do you enjoy music? * Do you like to sing? * Do play a musical instrument? * Can you play music using a smart phone or CD player? YOU DON'T NEED A LOT OF TALENT! Just willing to give time to someone receiving hospice care. We appreciate a gifted musician, however, if you like to just play music or sing along you will still make a difference! Music and singing bring comfort and companionship to all people but is so appreciated by those who are confined to their homes or a facility. They need you as a volunteer to provide enjoyment and a quality of life. Only an hour or two a week makes a difference in people’s lives. We will train and support you every step of the way! Volunteers meet all sorts of people in hospice and each has a story and different circumstances. You will learn so much on how to enjoy the time you spend with them!

If you are compassionate, caring, and have a calling to help others, becoming a hospice volunteer might be the perfect opportunity for you. Our volunteers give their time, talent and hearts generously and unselfishly - yet commonly feel that they receive more than they give. Volunteers may choose the area in which they prefer to function and the hours they are willing to donate. We serve all of Macomb and Saint Clair Counties. * Patient Support: Providing Companionship to the Patient and/or Caregiver Relief *Compassus Hospice follows CDC guidelines for COVID-19 response, and additional PPE training will be conducted with all new volunteers.

Volunteers in our office help with many daily duties that include things such as: filing, data entry, managing admission documents, helping with scheduling, helping with special events, etc. Our office volunteers work closely with our staff to better assist our clinical staff in bringing the gift of hospice to our patients. You will also learn the process of hospice from admission to death and all it entails. This takes place in our office during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM). Our volunteer coordinator will give any letters of recommendation, reference letters, etc. that may help with further employment or education. We have a very relaxed and welcoming environment in our office that any volunteer would feel comfortable working in. *Compassus Hospice follows CDC guidelines for COVID-19 response, and additional PPE training will be conducted with all new volunteers.

Mission Statement
The Colleagues of Compassus Hospice are committed to keeping The Hospice Promise by delivering the highest quality of care, serving the needs of patients and families and spreading the stories of hospice to those with whom they come into contact.
Description
Most volunteers feel personally rewarded through offering their time, energy and compassion when they see how much they are able to help patients and families. Further benefits frequently experienced by our volunteers include:
Greater self-knowledge from insights gained from relationships with patients, their families and from the hospice volunteer training. Spiritual growth from supporting a person through the final days while increasing the awareness of their own sense of spiritual values. The people that make up Compassus are dedicated to compassionate care, clinical excellence and providing comfort and support to patients and their families with end-of-life issues. This includes our volunteers.
At Compassus, we believe that every life is unique and deserves a meaningful and personal final journey. Perhaps you’ve experienced hospice services with a member of your family, or are looking for a meaningful way to volunteer your time. If you believe that giving your time can enhance the lives of others, we encourage you to explore volunteer opportunities with Compassus.
