Our Goldstone Caregiver Coaches work to provide support to the caregivers of patients throughout the hospital and encourage them to engage in self-care, with the goal of reducing caregiver stress. MAJOR TASKS: Provide support and compassion towards caregivers encountered either in the Caregiver Center or on the units. Actively listen to their experiences while maintaining proper boundaries. Check-in with supervisor prior to coaching and debrief immediately after coaching session. DAYS & TIMES NEEDED: Varied Monday through Friday, approximately 2-3 hours/week depending on needs of hospital and Caregiver Coach schedule. QUALIFICATIONS: Our Caregiver Coaches must have compassion, be able to maintain boundaries and exhibit good judgment. Good communication skills. Ability to be self-aware and self-reflective. While personal and/or professional caregiving experience has been helpful in enhancing the empathy of those who become Caregiver Coaches, it is not a requirement. TRAINING: A 2-3 session training specific to the Caregiver Coach role is provided by the Manager and Director of the Caregiver Center. In addition, shadowing of the Manager and/or Director will follow prior to going onto the units in pairs with other Coaches or alone. Coach and Manager together will determine when he/she is fully trained and ready to round the units on his/her own. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide proof of at least one booster shot. Volunteers will also be required to undergo a medical clearance process, as well as a background check. Applicants may apply directly via the following link: https://nuvancehealth.vsyslive.com/pages/app/adultNORWALK If you have any questions or are interested, kindly email Courtney Brown, Volunteer Coordinator at courtney.brown@nuvancehealth.org .

Virtual Opportunity
Our Mission: Norwalk Hospital's Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) consists of hospital staff, patients, family members, and caregivers collaborate on policy and program decision-making in multiple health care settings to improve safety, quality, education/communication, and the overall patient experience. The mission of PFAC is to share the patient and family voice, representing all families served by Norwalk Hospital by clearly articulating Patient and Family Centered Care principles. Patient-family centered care is an approach to care that respects the patient's values, perspectives and concerns and acknowledges the central role the family plays in supporting the patient. Volunteer Advisors help to enrich the patient experience. You are the voice of our community and we want to hear from you. In this vital role, you will help shape our decision making process. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard. Meetings are interactive and we all work as a team to share our experiences. We seek volunteers who have had a minimum of one year of experience as a patient in one of our hospitals, with one or more of our service lines, or have experience caring for a loved-one, who has obtained our services in the past year. Roles and Responsibilities of the PFAC volunteer: PFAC members will be expected to serve as the voice of the customer-our patients and families-to senior leadership, clinicians and staff of our Hospitals. In this role, members will provide honest feedback, work closely with leadership and staff to complete various projects helping to facilitate family and patient participation in hospital care and decision-making, information sharing, and policy and program development to ensure that personalized, comprehensive and collaborative care is provided to each and every patient in our hospital Network. Norwalk Hospital's PFAC meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 2PM-3PM. Volunteer's presence and participation is vital to this role, and we kindly ask that our volunteers be able to commit to each meeting.
