Mission Statement
We EDUCATE and INFORM the PUBLIC about artist HARRY BERTOIA and modern art in general. Who was Harry Bertoia? His jewelry is sculpture you wear. His monotypes a window into the universe. His chairs are sensual and sculptural. His sculptures range from welded, to spill-cast, to hand-shaped, from table sized to monumental. His gentle nature was expressed in delicate fine wire work while his superhuman strength was employed when building and installing his massive architectural commissions. He designed the ever-popular Diamond chair, still in production at Knoll Inc., crafted over 50 public sculptures, and created a new art form, Sonambient sounding sculptures.
