Mission Statement
Bridging the gap to a healthy, drug free life for women in early recovery from substance use disorder, or incarceration providing the missing link for women to reintegrate into their community, offering HOPE, HELP, and HEALING. These women receive FREE support from dedicated community volunteers who serve as advocates, mentors, and sources of emotional support.
Description
OpenDoor is a licensed user of the Open Table model; a model of change that has been successful in transforming lives across the country for almost 20 years.
We recruit and train volunteers to become part of a small group (a Table) to befriend a woman who is in recovery from addiction. Tables meet once a week for one hour to offer love, support, friendship, and guidance. Our goal is to remove social determinants of health that keep women and their children in the cycle of addiction and poverty- not only financial poverty, but relationship poverty as well.
The uniqueness of our model is that it is NOT one-on-one mentoring. Each Table works as a team of advocates who bring their own life experiences, connections and friendship to the Table.
