Mission Statement
"Humble Support and Steadfast Honor to Those Who Served and Sacrificed." With support from and in partnership with the community, Newby-ginnings of North Idaho, Inc., a non-profit organization, will provide, with honor, respect and integrity, essential items, resources and referrals to area Active Military, Veterans, and Gold Star Families in need of such services." There are no income eligibility requirements and you do not have to prove need. All this is needed is proof of military service, past or present, for yourself or an associated family member.

Newby-Ginnings Provides the Following Services to Veterans, Active Military, and Gold Star Families:
ESSENTIAL HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
The Newby-ginnings shop is full of everything needed to make a house a home. Furniture, appliances, lamps, curtains, towels and bed linens; small kitchen appliances, cookware, bake ware, flatware and dishes.
BASIC NECESSITIES
Clothing, shoes, coats and other warm weather gear; toiletries, medical equipment, blankets and food.
REFERRALS/RESOURCES
Newby-ginnings is a place where our clients can come, not only for basic household necessities, but peer support, friendship, a kind word from a valued volunteer as well as resources and referrals to other agencies. We work very closely with the VA, the AL, the VFW, the DAV, the Combat Vet Riders, Kootenai County Veteran Services, Goodwill, Heritage Health, the Department of Labor and St. Vincent’s just to name a few. We maintain a community resource board with current job listings, community events and other resources. Tim Gray, a local Veterans Service Officer with the American Legion, provides on-site services by appointment.

Newby Ginnings is such an amazingly wonderful organization, as a whole for the people they help and to volunteer for! It legitimately feels like one big family, with the clients as well as with the other volunteers and staff. They do so much good for our veteran community and I have legitimately seen it change lives with my own eyes, and even been part of that, which was amazing! Even if you don't see any listed volunteer opportunities on VolunteerMatch, they always need more volunteers! Give them a call or stop by, they'd love to have you! And if you're a veteran, stop by to see what Newby Ginnings can do for you! Take a walk through the thrift store! It's open to veterans and their families only, at no cost to them!
