Mission Statement

Bread Head’s mission is to empower individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity with food literacy, life skills, and positive relationships. With our intentional community, we hope to inspire personal growth, independence, and balanced living.

Description

In 2016, Celeste Baker founded Bread Head to support newly housed individuals by offering access to food, life skills coaching, and intentional community. Since then, Bread Head has evolved to bring food literacy programs and services to the Los Angeles food justice & equity scene. Together, we cultivate a deeper understanding of the impact of food, and food choices on oneself, our communities, the economy, and environment. With our responsive programming and purposeful community, we seek to inspire personal growth, self-efficacy, and balanced living. We believe in regular assessment, reflection, and improvement, whether on the individual level or as an organization. Bread Head strives to ensure accurate, ethical, equitable, and inclusive policies for a future with food literacy for all.
