Mission Statement

The mission of State of Nature is to aid and rehabilitate urban wildlife in distress and to educate the public while increasing awareness and appreciation of NYC’s natural environment through in person and virtual outreach. The aiding of urban wildlife in distress at no cost to the public includes but is not limited to: rescuing, transporting, housing and rehabilitating wildlife with access to veterinary care and releasing back into the wild. The education of the public includes: answering calls from the public as NY State registered wildlife rehabilitators, community outreach, no-cost education visits to schools - especially in under-served communities, producing educational materials while promoting environmental conservation and animal welfare.
