Overview: The role of the Grant Writer is to familiarize themselves with the organization's financial needs and mission. They are a key part of the "marketing" team for their organization. Through written proposals and other forms of communication, grant writers promote the organization and its causes, persuading donors to provide much-needed financial support. This individual has exceptional writing skills and follow-through on tasks and assignments. They pursue opportunities to gain knowledge that will assist in growing and maintaining the organization's needs. Responsibilities: Prepares proposals by determining concepts, gathering, and formatting information, writing drafts and obtaining approvals. Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings. Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering writing, review, approval, and transmittal. Enters and monitors tracking data. Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings. Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals. Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation. Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials. Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding and coordinating printing. Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases. Obtains approval by reviewing proposals with key providers and project managers. Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, English, professional writing, or a similar major. Ability to familiarize themselves with an organization's goals and needs. Overview: The Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of fundraising events and initiatives for the organization. The Fundraising Coordinator is directly responsible to the President and members of the organization. This individual should be familiar with the organizations vision and able to communicate effectively to all parties involved. Responsibilities: Develop a fundraising action plan. Identify and suggest fundraising opportunities. In conjunction with the Treasurer keep records relating to fundraising monies. Provide monthly updates to the committee regarding fundraising duties and events. Raise awareness of the fundraising event and its work at local and national levels, e.g., giving talks to groups or seeking photo opportunities with the media. Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising, online auctions, and merchandise sales. Qualifications: A high school diploma is required; bachelor’s degree preferred- but not necessary. Commitment to the organization’s cause. Ability to build and maintain relationships. Creativity, imagination, and an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising. Overview: The High School Liaison serves as a human link between the organization and the people/community they serve. They communicate and coordinate their activities by serving as an official go-between. Responsibilities: Serves as a point of contact. Connects with surrounding high schools that are in need and would benefit from the services the organization provides. Share information among students and school staff. Set up assemblies and office meetings with schools. Talk to teachers and school staff to find out if the organization would be an appropriate fit. Organize school events and activities that support students. Refer students to services they need. Qualifications: A high school diploma is required. Friendly, encouraging, non-judgmental manner. Overview: The mentor/volunteer coordinator will recruit, maintain, and organize the program’s mentors and volunteers. The coordinator will promote the mission, achieve long and short-term goals and objectives, expand resources and maintain quality and effectiveness under the CEO’s vision for all mentors and volunteers. Responsible for the mentors and volunteers being in accord with the heartbeat of the organizational goals, mission, and operational policies. In this role, the coordinator is the direct contact for all mentors and volunteers. Responsibilities: Managing all mentors to ensure they are meeting with their assigned person. Train mentors on properly caring for the girls. Implement program policy and procedures for recruitment and training of mentors and volunteers. Communicate with district personnel and community members in understanding the goals and objectives and enlist their support and involvement. Plan, organize, and coordinate roles and responsibilities among the mentors and volunteers. Conduct information gathering for the purpose of evaluating and adjusting program plan when necessary. Supervise program mentors and volunteers and aid to their needs/requests. Represent program on related committees. Oversee communication, record, and documentation systems for organization regarding all mentors and volunteers. Overview: The Event Coordinator is involved in all stages of planning and managing an event. This individual will be a detail orientated, self-directed professional, committed to playing a key role in the creation and planning of purposeful events according to the organization's needs and vision. Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate, execute and review smaller special events and regional events. Research, propose, and secure venues for functions based on budget, geography, accessibility, aesthetic appeal, and availability. Contract for services from vendors including caterers, parking services, photography, etc. Prepare formal briefing materials with final details for event hosts. Develop staffing plans to ensure quality standards are met. Travel to some assigned regional events to provide on-site support and management, working with staff, administrators, and hosts. Collaborate with the appropriate coordinators in the creation and final production of all events. Determine benchmarks for success prior to each assigned event, evaluate their effectiveness after the event, and incorporate improvements in future planning. For recurring events, recommend revisions to the event plan for future versions as appropriate. Maintain master event files and documentation to aid in planning and executing future events. In coordination with supervisor, develop and manage budgets for assigned events. Negotiate all financial commitments for delivery of products and services by outside vendors for assigned events using purchasing policies. Verify invoices and arrange for payment of approved event expenses. Ensure event stays on budget, monitoring financial commitments during lead-up to event and making alternate arrangements if cost overrun appears likely. Qualifications: A high school diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred- but not necessary. Significant professional event management experience may be substituted for a formal degree, preferably in a non-profit setting. Experience in planning events. The ability to interact with executive-level administrators, government officials, donors/prospects, alumni, and development staff with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality is required.
