JOIN the Board of Directors of OnePercent for Education OnePercent for Education was founded on the belief that all children are capable of succeeding educationally if given the opportunity and that a child’s ZIP code should not determine their educational achievement. Stressors such as poverty, housing, food and economic insecurities all inhibit a student’s readiness to learn and can lead to detrimental behaviors that impact their adult lives and limit their possibilities. Fortunately, there are proven, educationally focused nonprofit organizations delivering crucial services that our public schools cannot. With greater funding they could assist greater numbers of our deserving kids, altering and saving lives in the process. Mission: OnePercent for Education facilitates financial support for trusted, educationally-focused nonprofits working toward educational equity through partnerships with businesses, foundations and individuals. Vision: We envision communities where every child is provided the educational and life opportunities to reach for their potential. OnePercent for Education is a 501 (c)(3) organization whose board, staff and supporters share our passion for educational equity. Board Service OnePercent for Education’s Board of Directors comprises leaders from the education, nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the OnePercent for Education Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping every child to reach their educational potential. During the past year, board meetings have been virtual, have lasted 1-1 ½ hours and have been held every other month. Public health realities will dictate the immediate future schedule of board meetings. Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for OnePercent for Education to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help board and staff identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in OnePercent for Education’s work by making a personal contribution each year. Board members are expected to responsibly represent OnePercent for Education to their respective communities and to advocate for OnePercent for Education’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate. Given the relatively early stage of development, board terms have not been established. Current board members re-commit annually.
