National Volunteer Week 2021 Is Here!
Celebrate with us as we highlight #ArtAsActivism!
We are committed to delivering meals and boarding essentials to low-income college students to reduce the hardships of hunger and to facilitate uninterrupted academic achievement.
Student LunchBox (SLB) is a 501(c)3 approved, tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization committed to fighting food insecurity among college students. We realize our program by purchasing, soliciting, and distributing foods and other essentials to low-income college students who otherwise cannot afford balanced meals. Our services include a weekly food box program for students attending Community Colleges, Private and Public Universities.
Our approach to fighting campus hunger is simple. We build partnerships with wholesale food suppliers to purchase safe and nutritious foods at significantly discounted prices that otherwise would be sent to landfills. We similarly secure food and supply donations from local food growers, farmers' markets, small and large retailers, local businesses and distributors, and other partners who support our mission. Our prime responsibility as a food pantry is to support environmental sustainability, reduce waste, and support the low-income student population who does not have enough to eat.
The inability to afford food and other essentials has a dramatic impact on students' academic achievements. SLB's goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden students face by distributing foods and other necessities indispensable to their academic success.
