We need Volunteers to plan, prepare and serve a meal to families medial illness. Meals from the Heart Volunteers The Meals from the Heart progr am o ffe r s individual and group volunteers (1-10 people) a fun and rewarding way to support families staying at the House. Our guests return from a long day at the hosptial often tired and hungry. By providing a meal, volunteers will be providing guests staying at the House with a 1) A healthy, nurtritous meal that will assist them in recovery from their medical care 2) A smile that will brighten their day 3) A caring community of conversation 4) The gift of time to focus on healing and wellness. Families consistently tell us that complimentary meals are the one thing they appreciate most about staying at the Hosptiality House. Meals from the Heart Volunteers plan, purchase, prepare and serve a meal to families staying at the our "home away from home" that is located in Druid Hills, close to Emory University. Meals are prepared and served every night of year. Meals can be prepared onsite or in commercial kitchen from your church, business/school, or restaurant. You can also prepare meals in your home and transport to the House following serve safe criteria. Takeout and delivery meals from a restuarant is perfectly acceptable. Volunteers can plan your own menu or our Guest Services staff can provide guidance on menu selection, including a shopping list. Dinner is served at 6:00pm every night; Volunteers typically arrive arouund 4:00pm to starting meal preparation. 1-10 Volunteers Dinner served daily at 6:00pm Prepare meals and serve 3-15 Guests Plan, purchase, prepare and serve the meals. Each meal consists of a salad or vegetable, protein, side dish, beverage and dessert All cooking and serving equipment is available onsite when you arrive. The meal will be served buffet style, with volunteers directly serving families. Volunteers are responsible for clean up after meal preparation is completed and should be departing the House by 7:30pm If you prefer a day cooking volunteer event, we can accomodate that too! This is a great opportunity for 1-2 friends, families, a work team, faith or community groups, and student organizations. Have a great team building event while serving others. Sit down, stay and join the our families for dinner and hear their stories. Please note that all on-site volunteers under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult. **All volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver before volunteering.

Please note that all on-site volunteers under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult. **The number of volunteers gathered in one area might be limited due to COVID social distancing requirements. **All volunteers must wear a mask while in the presence of others, during the serving of food, and follow social distancing requirements while at the House. **Symptom screening will be required for all volunteers prior to volunteering. **All volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver before volunteering.

The Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House serves families and patients of all ages that travel to Atlanta to receive specialized medical care often for a life threatening diagnosis. The House provides a "home away from home", affordable and safe accommodations, nutritious meals, continental breakfast and lunch, snacks, free wifi, and a caring community of support to all our guests. AHHH is unique in that we are the only facility in Atlanta that serves all guests regardless of age, medical diagnosis, treating hospital, family size or ability to pay. Everyone is welcome at our doors. The House is centrally located to all of Atlanta's medical facilities, in a quiet Druid Hills neighborhood. The House is close to Emory University Hosptial, Piedmont Hospital, and Emory Winship Cancer Center. Guests that stay at the House have access to hiking trails, laundry facilities, dining and community spaces, arts and crafts, free Wi-Fi, and laptops are available for check out. Our Guest Services volunteers assist the AHHH staff with day to day tasks that keep the facility running smoothly. Volunteers support the staff in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the community spaces and kitchen areas. Additionally, Guest Services Volunteers assist with room turnovers by cleaning and preparing overnight rooms for guest check-ins, Guest services volunteers also assist with guest needs, family programming, gardening and yardwork, answering phones, preparing and serving meals, restocking of items, and other duties as assigned. The emphasis of Guest Services volunteers is to create a safe, healthy, welcoming home like environment for guest families so that patients and families can focus on treatment and recovery. Key Responsibilities: Answering phone/making reservations/responding to email Schedule and give tours of the House Assist with checking families in and out of rooms Cleaning rooms and bathrooms following hospital clean standards Completing and folding laundry following hospital clean standards Prepare and serve dinner for guests following serve safe guidelines Clean common areas of the facility Restock and inventory supplies Accept, sort and inventory donations Data entry Vacuum/Sweep Dusting Disinfecting surfaces Making beds Baking Miscellaneous projects Yard work, gardening, and watering Other duties as assigned by Guests Services Coordinator or Operations Manager. The Atlanta Hospital Hosptiality House is looking for volunteers to plan, prepare and serve a meal to patients and families battling medical illness. Meals from the Heart Volunteers The Meals from the Heart Program offers individuals and group volunteers (1-15 people) a fun and rewarding way to support families staying at the House. The House is a 8 bedroom "home away from home" for patients and their families needing to travel to Atlanta for life saving medical care. Our guests are battling cancer, heart disease, mental health, trauma, and solid organ transplants. The Meals from the Heart Program provides guest families with a warm, home-cooked meal after a long day at the hospital. The food provides nourishment that aids healing and provides comfort for their souls. By providing a meal, volunteers will be providing patients and family members with a 1) A health, nutritous meal that improves their mental and physical health outcomes 2) A smile that will brighten their day 3) A caring community of conversation 4) The gift of time to focus on healing and wellness Families consistently tell us that complimentary meals are the thing they appreciate the most about staying with us. My sincere thanks to all donors and volunteers." -House Guest Here are some general details about the volunteer opportunity Volunteers purchase, prepare and serve the food to guest families. Volunteers are asked to provide a 1) protein 2) vegetable/salad 3)bread, rice or potato 4) drink. Food can be prepared onsite at the House or in an offsite kitchen. If you want to prepare the food within your home, please contact us to discuss Safe Food Handling and Transportation Guidelines. Meals are served buffet style with volunteer(s) serving all food to the guest(s). Dinner is served at 6:00pm each night. Please plan on serving 6-15 people, but you can contact us closer to the date to find out an exact number. You can arrive any time after 3:00pm to begin preparation. Please contact us if you need to arrive earlier. If you would like to drop off your items prior to going to the office on a work day, please contact us and let us know. We will set up a drop off time. We ask that volunteers load the dishwashers, wash dishes, and clean up the kitchen after serving. Volunteers usually are out of the House by 7:30pm. If you cannot stay and would like to just drop off the groceries, a completed meal, or restaurant delivery, that is appreciated too. If you prefer to serve a day time meal, that works too.
