Mission Statement

The mission of Rex Mill Middle STEM School is to motivate our community to live inspired and purpose-filled lives through intentional exposure to the arts, science, technology, and mathematical practices.


Led by the dynamic 2018 Clayton County Public School Principal of the Year, Dr. Caryn Turner, Rex Mill Middle STEM School is the premiere school for students interested in STEM/STEAM careers with a Healthcare Science/Technology emphasis. Rex Mill is the first certified STEM school in Clayton County and the second STEM school in the state of Georgia.

Our Goals:
For the 2021-2022 school year, we are seeking to create a new theme, Healthcare Science and Healthcare Technology to solve the Healthcare Desert in the Clayton County area. For example, there are over 3000 patients to 1 primary care physician and over 4000 patients to 1 specialist doctor in the area. We want to expose our students to new and innovative careers within in the Healthcare sector.

Our Accomplishments:

  • 2020-2021 SY- Reading Bowl placed 1st in the District's Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl
  • 2020-2021 SY- Stock Market Team placed 1st in the state of Georgia
  • 2019-2020 SY- Rex Mill Middle STEM School hosted and participated in the 2nd Clayton County Water Authority Competition, where students were tasked with engineering a functional water tower.
  • 2019-2020 SY- Rex Mill Middle STEM School was represented in Savannah, GA at the Women in Engineering Day with 50 young ladies.
