Description
he Great American Brass Band Festival is a community event showcasing brass band music through performance and education. The Festival preserves brass band music and explores its cultural influences through a variety of programs and presentations, featuring the best brass musicians in the world. This Festival is held in downtown Danville, KY as well as the picturesque campus of Centre College.
The Festival was founded in 1990 by two Danville community members who had a strong interest in brass band music and strong connections within the world of brass band music. They pulled in many community entities for support in presenting the first Festival. Since then, the number of partners has grown exponentially, and the Festival has strong local, regional and international support since.
The Festival brings in between 12-18 performing groups each and every year. We pride ourselves on the variety of brass groups offered, from Civil War bands to New Orleans groups and everything in between.
Upwards of 25,000 people attend the four day, free of charge Festival; celebrating music, art and the beautiful Bluegrass region. We pull our audiences not only from Kentucky and neighboring states but also from across the United States and the world.
