Mission Statement

The Cape Fear Flyers is a USATF sanctioned, AAU affiliated, non-profit organization that provides children ages 6-18 of all socioeconomic levels a safe, affordable , team-centric environment enabling them to foster and sustain competitive excellence, interest, and participation in track and field, cross country, and race-walking while teaching them proper technique to maximize speed and agility.

Description

The Cape Fear Flyers was started in 2014 founded by local business man and runner Shawn McKee. Shawn had run with the original Cape Fear Flyers as a youth back in the 1990s.
Since our founding in 2014 we have had many athletes compete at the top levels in both the USATF and AAU Junior Olympic systems and have train some national champions. This year we are proud to see four of our former athletes sign commitment letters to compete on the college level.
Each season we have athletes who are able to compete because we offer scholarships to defer the cost of registration, meet fees, and governing body memberships. We endeavor to make running, jumping, and throwing available to all athletes who wish to participate.
This year we hope to expand our curriculum beyond just the physical training of the sports to educate our athletes about nutrient and physiology for a healthy life as well.
