Friends of the Riverfront is a pioneering nonprofit, responsible for the development and stewardship of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, an 30+ mile urban rail-trail along the riverfronts of Allegheny County, and the Three Rivers Water Trail. Since 1991 Friends has been working to protect and restore the region’s priceless riverfronts. Through intense collaboration with community partners, government officials, philanthropic supporters and our diverse volunteer base, Friends works to restore local riverfronts from industrial wastelands to examples of healthy environmental renewal, providing accessible public green space to communities along the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela rivers.
