Mission Statement

Washington Heights Cat Colony is a small, local TNR and cat rescue organization. We are completely volunteer-run and would love some more helping hands! Volunteer duties can include feeding cats, socializing kittens and some older cats, posting on social media, shoveling snow around outdoor cat shelters, and more. Your role(s) at our organization will be based on which responsibilities are best suited to your strengths and preferences. This is our first time advertising on VolunteerMatch, and we are excited to see some new faces! ***To get involved, please email info@wahicats.org!***

The Washington Heights Cat Colony is a non-profit TNR (trap-neuter-return) group located in upper Manhattan. WaHi Cats is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit TNR (trap-neuter-return) group located in Upper Manhattan. (NYS RESCUE REGISTRATION #RR215). We are dedicated to humanely reducing the local feral cat population by using the TNR method; to educating the surrounding community about the benefits of TNR programs; to placing adoptable cats and kittens from cat colonies in homes where possible; and to maintaining the health and well-being of our neighborhood feral cat colonies by providing ongoing care (food, water, shelter, and medical treatment) for the feral, stray, and abandoned cats in our community.
