Mission Statement

St. Vincent's House provides services and resources to empower people to become self-sustaining, contributing members of our community

Description

Today, St. Vincent's House (SVH) is a 501(c)(3) faith-based social service ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Since its charter in 1956, by the island’s three Episcopal congregations: Trinity, Grace and St. Augustine, ST. Vincent's House has expanded its service area to include economically and resource-challenged citizens throughout Galveston County. St. Vincent's current partners include UTMB, providing free and reduced cost medical care to Galveston County's most vulnerable populations since 1984, Family Service Center providing mental health services, Galveston County Food Bank providing nutrition assistance, Galveston County Commissioner's Court providing emergency assistance and other local and state agencies.

Among our current programs are a food pantry, take-along snack packs and shower and laundry ministry to the homeless, comprehensive case management setting families and individuals on a path to self-sustainability, financial literacy, free clinics for speech, occupational and physical therapy, general medicine and multiple specialty clinics for chronic and acute care.
