Mission Statement
The Farm Centre has been a hub for agricultural activities and food distribution since the mid 1970’s. In 2014, we created the Legacy Garden which has grown to become one of the largest urban farms in Canada. The Garden consists of several theme areas. In order to accommodate those people on our waiting list, our Community Garden will be expanding in 2021 from 160 to 200 allotments. These garden plots are occupied by a rich diversity of people including Indigenous people, newcomers to Canada, seniors, young families, youth at risk, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and others. Our staff manages the Goodwill Garden. We produce over 20,000 pounds of food, per year which we donate to charities to help alleviate food insecurity. In 2021, we are proposing to expand our partnership with The Institute for Bioregional Studies to create a second food hub in Eglington, Kings County, Prince Edward Island.
