Mission Statement

We mobilize the collective power of community to advance lasting solutions for the most urgent issues our neighbors face.

Description

After seeing the devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, both in the Central Valley and the rest of the country, as well as watching the push for social and economic justice rise to the forefront of the American consciousness in recent months, we are doubling down on our commitment to help improve the radical wealth, health, and educational disparities that have been negatively impacting our Communities of Color for far too long. One of the ways we’re doing this is through our new Prosperity Coaching model- an innovative, long-term approach designed to teach people how to grow and invest wealth from where, before, there was nothing.

Overall, our goal at United Way is to mobilize the caring power of community to advance the common good of our residents here in Fresno and Madera Counties. We know that together, we can make a lasting impact in our neighborhoods, as well as the world at large.

This is how we Live United.

I would absolutely consider volunteering at this organization, because of their commitment to giving back to the community. Throughout my time volunteering, I was able to organize flyers, masks, and other things, as well as interact with community members and organize business cards for the staff. The staff is currently working on providing information on the COVID-19 vaccine and emergency preparedness, and they also help out with financial aid, connecting people to non-medical emergency resources, and much more. It was a great thing to see how much of an impact I was making, regardless of what I was being asked to do. The staff at United Way are also extremely friendly, and deeply appreciate any help they would get. It's truly inspiring to see how much of a difference that the staff makes with the services that they provide, and I recommend that everyone considers volunteering at United Way Fresno and Madera Counties because of how much of a positive impact they leave on the world.
