Mission Statement

The Vietnamese Boat People podcast project is to preserve and carry forward the stories of this generation so that younger Vietnamese-Americans can understand and be inspired by their heritage. And if these stories evoke others outside of this community to have more empathy towards the millions of refugees around the world today, then this project has accomplished more than we had hoped for.

Description

The Vietnamese Boat People is a podcast that preserves stories of the Vietnamese diaspora directly from the community. It is available on major podcast platforms such as Apple Podcast, Spotify, and Stitcher and currently reaches listeners from over 10 countries. It is selected for the 2021 PRX / Google Podcast Creators Program, 2020 Silver 'Best Mission Driven’ by Asian Podcast Network and a recipient of the NJ Council for Humanities and Asian Women Giving Circle grants. Additionally, the organization runs a community blog, hosts events and records stories onsite.
