Mission Statement

NO OTHER MUSEUM TELLS STORIES THAT MATTER MORE THAN THESE IWM is a global authority on conflict and its impact on people’s lives. We collect objects and stories that give an insight into people’s experiences of war, preserve them for future generations, and bring them to today’s audiences in the most powerful way possible. Our family of five museums uncover the causes, course and consequences of war, from the First World War through to present-day conflict.

On behalf of all the staff and volunteers we are delighted you are considering joining the team at IWM London Branches and we are excited to get you involved in our work and ambitions.

IWM is hugely proud to be a volunteer involving organisation that engages nearly 1000 volunteers across our five sites.

Our volunteers are very important to us. With your proactive support we can bring to life the stories of our collections and conflict, care for our many significant objects and enhance every customer experience and journey.
