Position Overview As HAP continues to grow, more fundraising dollars will be needed to reach our goals. The grant writer will prepare proposals, grant applications, and supporting documentation by researching, identifying, developing, and responding to grant opportunities in order to procure funds for operating expenses and specific projects/campaigns. Duties and Responsibilities Bimonthly check-in with leadership and volunteers of HAP to review proposals, research, and deadlines Review new granting opportunities on an ongoing basis. This includes subscribing to email lists to receive updates on Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and conducting research to self-identify opportunities. Collaborate with HAP staff and volunteers to collect information needed for grant applications. Help keep track of grant applications that have been approved or denied and update HAP leadership team as needed. Assist with submission of reporting requirements to granting organization in a timely manner. This may again involve collaborating with other HAP volunteers to have proper knowledge of updates on a project the grant may have been awarded for. Conduct ongoing communication with granting organizations, as directed and needed. Respond to HAP leadership emails and calls within 48 hours Be prepared and on-time for meetings and events Share and support HAP’s mission and core values; adhere to HAP’s policies Other duties as needed Training Requirements Training on HAP’s values, policies, campaigns and core values. Skills and Qualifications Previous grant experience is required. Strong research and writing skills Ability to communicate in a professional manner with both HAP staff and representatives from outside granting organizations. Basic computer literacy Ability to meet deadlines Excellent organization skills Self-motivated Ability to present yourself in a friendly, professional, and non-partisan manner Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and meet deadlines Working knowledge of Google Drive and Trello, or a willingness to learn Time Commitment Required Approximately 3 - 4 hours per week. Monthly one-hour, virtual leadership meetings Bimonthly one-hour, virtual grant team meetings Dress Code Professional dress required for professional meetings and presentations. If attending an informal event on behalf of HAP, we ask the volunteer to purchase a HAP T-shirt for $7. Location Since the pandemic, most HAP meetings take place via Zoom. However, occasional in person meetings may be required. Humane Action Pittsburgh is expanding throughout Pennsylvania and we are looking for residents throughout PA to act as a district liaison. Duties include: -Submitting letters to the editor and op-eds -Meeting with legislators -Attending monthly meetings with HAP leadership (virtual) -Attending other meetings as needed -Light research -Collaborating with local stakeholders to support animal and environmental legislation -Other duties, as needed Volunteers can expect to spend 2 - 5 hours per week volunteering. Position Overview A table staffed by knowledgeable representatives of Humane Action Pittsburgh can educate the public about HAP’s mission and campaigns, raise awareness of the importance of animal and environmental advocates becoming politically involved, gain new HAP members, build email list, and increase social media following. Purpose of the Position Ensure high public visibility for HAP within the community Promote HAP campaigns and advance animal protection by growing HAP membership though education and engagement of new people to the organization Help HAP achieve our common goal of building the Model Humane City. Duties and Responsibilities Transport literature and tabling supplies. Coordinate the pick-up and drop off of materials as necessary Correspond with event organizers regarding details, such as tables and chairs needed and potential speaking opportunities Engage visitors at the HAP table and encourage them to sign up to receive information Send data to supervisor If unable to answer a question from the public, obtain the answer from HAP leadership after and follow-up. Respond to HAP leadership emails and calls within 48 hours Attend HAP’s monthly leadership meeting and other meetings as needed Share and support HAP’s mission and core values; adhere to HAP’s policies Other duties as needed Training Requirements Training on HAP’s core values, mission, and policies, including orientation on campaign missions and status. Volunteer Position Description: Philadelphia Program Manager Position Overview Humane Action Pittsburgh (aka Humane Action Pennsylvania) has had tremendous success in passing local legislation in Western Pennsylvania. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate volunteer Philadelphia Program Manager to oversee and expand our animal welfare initiatives into Philadelphia. As the Program Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating outreach efforts and assisting in strategy development and implementation. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with local communities and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in program management, a strong commitment to animal welfare, and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of companion animals across Pennsylvania. Purpose of the Position Educate legislators, members of the public, and other stakeholders on HAP’s priority issues Transform Philadelphia into a more compassionate and humane community Duties and Responsibilities Assist with planning and implementation of Philadelphia initiatives. Tasks include research, attending legislator meetings, making phone calls, and writing letters.
