Mission Statement

The Empowerment Project breaks down barriers to financial success and bridges the racial wealth gap through the power of financial literacy. Our nonprofit organization based in Chicago is striving to eradicate racial inequity by offering comprehensive financial literacy curricula on a free or sliding scale basis to underserved communities on Chicago’s south and west sides. At The Empowerment Project, we work collaboratively with other community stakeholders to help young people experiencing a turbulent transition to adulthood gain some traction and get ahead. We offer age-appropriate financial education programs facilitated by certified financial coaches that address practical issues related to all aspects of personal finance. Our ultimate goal is to create a cultural shift in socio-economic development by empowering individuals and families to break out of the cycle of poverty, build generational wealth, and lead their communities to end racial disparity in America.

Description

The Empowerment Project NFP is a non-profit organization driven by the desire to eliminate racial inequality in underserved communities in the Chicago area. We seek to provide a lasting solution to racial inequality and financial literacy in these environs by building knowledge in financial literacy.

Built around a network of experienced and passionate people who care about financial literacy and racial equality, we have come together to provide lasting solutions.

To achieve this aim, The Empowerment Project NFP is designed to understand the unique problem faced by these small communities. Considering accounting, finance, and small businesses, we'll help establish a more financially stable economy through self-driven learning programs.
