Brooklyn Donates is a non-profit based in Brooklyn, NY focused on assisting small businesses in their economic recovery from the effects of the pandemic, as well as community building and anti-gentrification efforts. The organization is focused on equity and prioritizes the social and economic health of the communities with which it is in partnership.
Brooklyn Donates was founded in March, 2020 in response to the pandemic's ripple effects of small business closures and unemployment. We have given out $91,200 in grants to small business owners in Brooklyn and NYC since June, 2020. Our grant programs include: COVID-19 Central Relief Fund, and a Heater/Plexi-glass program to help small businesses transform their spaces for winter. We emphasize outreach and grant efforts to women-owned, BIPOC-owned, and LGBTQ+-owned businesses. We believe that Main Street business ownership belongs in the hands of our community, not big corporations.
