Description

Since 2017, Green Pedal has worked with local communities in Mozambiqueto build sustainable food systems. Operating with respect for people and the environment, these sustainable food systems focus on social, economic and environmental impacts. We empower communities in Mozambique to access the proper resources and tools needed to build and achieve food sovereignty so that communities can overcome hunger, poverty and inequality. We believe that sustainable food systems are the key to creating lasting positive change.

When communities embrace thriving sustainable local food systems, children eat diverse meals, gender equality increases, families are lifted out of poverty, children can go to school and the health of the earth is maintained and replenished.

Our work is guided by international standards and rooted in local tradition.

FOOD SOVEREIGNTY

At Green Pedal we want food sovereignty to thrive in every community. That’s why we work to ensure that rural communities have the tools and resources needed to strengthen local traditions and reclaim their rights to the land. Through respect for people and the environment some of our initiatives include boosting local production, increasing market access, and ensuring productive organic farming practices.

ENSURING COMMUNITIES HAVE CONTROL OVER HOW THEIR FOOD IS PRODUCED, TRADED AND CONSUME.
