Mission Statement
We are a non-profit community-based volunteer organization helping those experiencing homelessness in Folsom move toward self-sufficiency and greater independence.
Description
HART of Folsom needs help with our upcoming Winter Shelter, January 3, 2021 - March 31, 2021.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to filling a shift once (or more!) per week for our 12-week shelter period.
We need folks to help in these capacities:
1.) Drivers for Saturdays and Sundays: Evening shift 5pm to 6:30pm, drive HART van to transport our guests from our Folsom Intake site to our shelter site. Morning shift 7:45am to 8:15am, drive HART van to transport our guests from the shelter site back to the Intake site.
2.) Assist guests storing/retrieving personal items in a storage pod. Morning shift 7:15am to 8:30am; Evening shift 5pm to 6:30pm.
3.) Stay overnight (8pm to 6:30am) in the shelter (a church in Folsom) with our guests. 2-3 volunteers per night will rotate a sleeping schedule so that there is always one person awake in the shelter. Churches will provide sleeping cots; you bring your own sleeping bag/pillow.
4.) In the morning (6:45am to 8:15am) serve a takeaway breakfast; oversee van pickup of guests; clean and sanitize sleeping area. Lock up per site guidelines.
All volunteers work together in keeping CDC Health guidelines in place and providing a positive, welcoming experience. Training either in person or online is provided for everyone. There are also videos on the HARTofFolsom.org website for your educational benefit.
